Lunch December 16 2024
From your Mission Committee:
Our December 16 Free Community Lunch day may have been cold and rainy, though folks still gathered to share warm holiday cheer, smiles, a hot meal, and God’s love.
The Free Community Lunch Volunteer Team prepared and distributed 220 lunches to local families and individuals who were deeply grateful for the kindness. Lunchers enjoyed a hot meatball sandwich, chips, pickle, applesauce, a cookie and a water. Sure tasted good on a cold day! We also continued to distribute handmade scarves and head wraps to our lunchers. Church friend Deb Stettler knitted and donated close to 100 scarves and head wraps for us to distribute to our lunchers. She starts knitting these in the spring!
At this December mission, we lovingly remembered long-time member William “ Parrot” Smith and church neighbor Stella Gallagher. They are always in our hearts, and we know they are with us in spirit during our Free Lunch missions.
Thank you to the many, many folks who continue to help sustain this monthly mission. We received multiple donations this past month to continue this work in our community and we are profoundly grateful to all who help. This mission is and always was funded through donations - truly a testimony to people loving people and helping one another. THANK YOU!
“In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.” Matthew 5:16
We wish you a blessed, loving holiday with family and friends. Let’s always remember we are celebrating the birth of a Baby. “For unto you is born this day in the city of David a savior who is Christ the Lord.” Luke 2:11
God loves you, and so do we.
Love,
Your Mission Committee, the Free Lunch Volunteers, and the congregants of the Presbyterian Church of Catasauqua
